Massive Support for Earth Hour 2012 Today

Joining hands together in support of taking action against climate change, people across the world will switch off their lights for an hour on Saturday to mark the Earth Hour 2012.

Earth Hour is a worldwide event, which is organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) on the last Saturday of March every year. People used to observe the day by turning off lights at their homes and business establishments for an hour to raise awareness about the climate change.

This year, Earth Hour will take place today from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm, as per the countries' respective local time.

The concept Earth Hour was first developed by the WWF in Australia in the year 2004 expressing a big concern on the issue of climate change. WWF Australia and advertising agency Leo Burnett Sydney had initiated the idea of switching off the lights in a large scale by launching a campaign in 2005.

Every year everyone joins in the countdown to Earth Hour, which starts at 8:30 pm. The lights stay off to keep the houses and business establishments dark. This is the way to reduce the energy consumption at least once in a year.

The campaign for Earth Hour "I Will If You Will" was launched in February this year, engaging its global community to make their efforts publicly through social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and email. Even YouTube had also played a key role to inspire people from all corners of the globe to take action on climate change and to share their commitment to our environment on March 31, 2012.

Support your People

Countless distractions, threats, and roadblocks prevent people from getting work done. Good bosses take pride in shielding their people from these annoyances. Here are three ways you can help your employees focus on what matters:

- Show up on Time: One of the biggest detractors from work is wasted time, possibly time your people spend waiting for you to arrive for meetings or give needed direction. Being important doesn't give you permission to impede productivity.

- Stop the intrusions: Set aside time for your employees to think and work; don't expect them to respond immediately to voice mail and e-mails.

- Let them have good fights: Don't avoid conflict. Make your people feel safe enough to speak their minds, even to you, so they have productive and creative disagreements.

AVOID THE TENDENCIES OF BAD BOSSES

Being the boss is hard, especially when you need to counter the natural tendencies that separate you from the people you manage.

Recognizing these tendencies can help you avoid them. Here are the top three to watch out for:

- Self-delusion: Not only do bosses have this tendency; the majority of people estimate their skills to be higher than they are in reality. Be aware that you might be self aggrandizing and find ways to get input and evaluations that show you your true skills.

- Heedlessness: Those in positions of power are watched carefully by the people below them. But that level of attention is often not reciprocated. When you become the head honcho, don't forget to remain curious about and engaged with your direct reports.

- Insulation:  No one wants to deliver bad news to the boss, so the boss often doesn't know the full story. Create a culture in which the messenger isn't shot, but is lauded for bringing important information forward.

Aamir Khan turns 47, remains Busy in Shooting

Bollywood's "perfectionist" actor Aamir Khan turned 47 today. However, he looked busy in shooting for his debut television reality show instead of celebrating his birthday with family and friends.

Aamir is excited about the reality show that brings real life stories on small screen. The show would be aired on Star Plus in two months.

The show reportedly titled 'Satyamev Jayate' would leave a mark in television industry and Aamir would be hosting the show. It would be aired for 13 weeks.

Aamir is doing his best to make the show genuine. He has travelled across the country for the show. On his birthday, he looked a bit excited about his upcoming project.

While talking to media persons today, he said, "I am shooting for the TV show today. Unfortunately, I won't be able to celebrate it with the family. Usually, I make sure I am with my family today. But I am very much excited about the show".

The actor was overwhelmed receiving the best wishes from his millions of fans on his birthday. Aamir, who always keeps himself busy with his projects, is not planning to celebrate his birthday in a grand manner. He feels that birthday comes every year and everyday would be given same importance.

He is grateful to God for the success, love, and respect. He is happy for his newborn son Azad. He wished to spend more time with his family. But, the actor is always busy even on his birthday.

We Breaking News Online Team wishing the veteran actor a very happy Birthday!

DEVELOP A LEADERSHIP BRAND

A leadership brand tells people what is distinctive about you as a leader and communicates what you have to offer. Summarizing your brand in a statement is a useful and often enlightening task. First, answer two important questions:

- What do I want to be known for?

- What results do I want to achieve in the next twelve months?

Take these two answers and put them into the following statement: I want to be known for ____________ so that I can deliver___________.

Once you have your statement, be sure that you are living up to it. Ask others for input on whether you are achieving your goals and whether they see your leadership brand in the same way you do.

RECOVER FROM A MISTAKE

While most people accept that mistake are inevitable, no one likes to make them. The good news is that even large slipups don't have to be carer enders if they are handled well. Next time you make a blunder, follow these three steps to recover gracefully:

- Fess Up: Trying to hide a mistake or down play its importance can be fatal to your career. Be candid an transparent about the mistake, take responsibility for your part in it, and don't be defensive.

- Make necessary changes: Mistakes are important learning opportunities. Explain to your boss and other interested parties what you will do differently going forward.

- Get back out there: Don't let your errors keep you from ever taking risks again. Once the mistake is behind you, focus on the future.

SCHEDULE TIME FOR SECOND GUESSING

Questioning whether you have made the right decision can be useful way to make sure you are on the right track. But if you second guess yourself at the wrong time, you may feel tempted to give up on important commitments.

Don't question your self when you are most vulnerable. Instead, schedule a time to review your decision when you are in the right frame of mind. For example, don't wonder whether you should abandon a plan to talk more during meetings when you are walking into the conference room. Rather, tell yourself that you will question the decision ten minutes into the meeting, once you've had the time to get used to the idea.

Setting a time will also help you second guess rather than nagging yourself with doubts.
